The Governing Body of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Head Teacher for our happy and friendly school which is situated in the beautiful city of Bath. This follows the resignation of the current Head, who has successfully led the school for the past 9 years and is relocating to a different part of the country. St Mary’s is known as an inclusive and welcoming school, with an ethos of celebrating talents and developing children to be the best they can be.

We are looking for someone special who:

  • Is a practising Catholic with a clear vision for Catholic Education.
  • Is an exemplary classroom practitioner with a passion for inspiring and challenging the team to deliver children’s learning to meet – and exceed, their God-given potential.
  • Is experienced in curriculum innovation and development, and can demonstrate their impact on raising standards.
  • Is an outstanding leader who can demonstrate strategic thinking as well as empathy and understanding.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills to lead, challenge and support others.
  • Is reflective and keen to grasp opportunities for further self-improvement.
  • Consistently drives for aspirational school improvement.
  • Is motivated to work with colleagues, parents, parish and wider community in a genuine collaboration; in order to maximise learning potential for our children.

St Mary’s is proud to offer:

  • A friendly, welcoming community underpinned by a ‘outstanding’ Catholic ethos.
  • A ‘good’ school always seeking to strengthen and improve.
  • Delightful, well-behaved children who are keen to learn.
  • A supportive and talented staff team committed to working together to drive the school forward.
  • A strong and close-knit community with active parents and carers.
  • The opportunity to work collaboratively with senior leaders and Governors to realise the school’s vision.
  • A committed and supportive environment where you will be encouraged to develop your professional skills further.
  • Dedicated time towards leadership and management responsibilities.
  • The opportunity to work with other schools within the Camino Partnership and B&NES maintained schools’ hub.
  • A vibrant city to work in which is full of culture, history and the arts.

The Governing Body supports the Bishop’s vision for schools and is actively working with partner schools to ensure the best structure for a successful future.

This is a full-time vacancy, with a start date of either January or April 2024.
