In September we celebrated School Mass for the beginning of term; Year 6 spent a day at St Gregory's as part of their preparation for the transfer to secondary school next September. We celebrated our annual book week with visits by authors Kathryn White and Cathy Cassidy.
In October we held a Spanish Week including a Spanish breakfast, Salsa and flamenco dancing, tapas making, a Camino de solidaridad in aid of charity, and a dressing up day with a Spanish theme; The school football team were runners-up in the Bath Schools 7-a-side tournament.

In November pupils filled shoeboxes with gifts for children in poorer parts of the world, to be distributed by the 'Operation Christmas Child' charity; Reception class enjoyed a trip to the Victoria Art Gallery. Year 3 went on a guided coach tour of the city. Year 5 & 6 were visited by professional actors from the English Shakespeare company who led them in a Shakespeare Workshop; they then visited Strode Theatre in Street to see a performance of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. The school hockey team took part in a league at Bath University.
In December the whole school was treated to a Performance by 'Brass and Voices', composed of teachers from Bath schools' Music department. Year 6 visited Sevington Victorian School. Year 3 took part in a tennis festival at Lansdown Tennis Club. Key stage 1 celebrated Christmas by performing a nativity play; Key stage 2 held an Advent service at St Mary's church; Year 5 took part in the annual Bath Schools' Carol Service at Bath Abbey.

In January Year 6 had a trip to the Create Centre in Bristol for a 'Lifeskills for Living' course; Year 1 visited Bath Toy Museum as part of a history topic. The whole school enjoyed the visit of the professional Storybox Theatre performing 'The Tin Soldier'. The school netball team took part in the Super Cup tournament at Bath University.
In February some year 3 & 4 pupils participated in the Oldfield Cluster swimming festival at Monkton Combe School. The whole school participated in a skipping skills workshop, learning skipping skills and games. They also enjoyed the visit of M & M theatre group performing 'Peter Pan'; Mr Brennan and Mr Gailor visited our partner school in Cordoba. Miss Dowle visited several schools in India with other RE co-ordinators from Bath schools. Reception class held a carnival. The PTFA funded repairs and improvements to the millennium garden in the infant playground.

In March Year 5 performed in the Junior Music Makers section of the Mid-Somerset Festival, singing 'the Cat Song'. Our school choir also took part, singing 'Black and White' and 'Eagles' Wings'. The school orchestra played the St Mary's Rock and the St Mary's Blues. Year 5 also took part in Dance Umbrella, a Bath schools' dance festival at The Forum, performing a dance they had created based on the lives of South American villagers living by the River Orinoco. Year 4 visited the Hindu Temple in Bristol as part of their RE. The school football team won the Bath schools' 5-a-side tournament. The hockey team participated in a league at Bath University. The whole school celebrated Holy week and Easter week (both of which fell in term time this year) with a variety of services and celebrations. Year 5 enjoyed a visit to Prior Park College to watch a production of 'Return to the Forbidden Planet.'

In April Reception class visited Warleigh Lodge farm; The PTFA held a very successful Barn Dance in aid of the Playpumps appeal; Year 1 took part in a family sports multiskills festival at Oldfield School.
In May the whole school spent two days learning about and celebrating the theme 'Every Child Matters' with art, music, drama, and a dressing up day in which pupils thought about what they would like to do when they grew up and dressed accordingly. Year 3 visited Willsbridge Mill as part of their study of the environment and habitats.

A hugely busy final 8 weeks saw class trips for every class. In June Year 6 had their week-long residential trip to Torquay; Year 5 spent a weekend on retreat with three other Catholic primary schools at Kilve Court; The PTFA Summer Fayre on 6 July raised over £3000 for the Playpumps appeal; Year 6 went to the school leavers' Mass at Clifton Cathedral; Our school team took part in the Primary tag rugby league; Year 5 had a 'taster day' at St Gregory's; Our brass players took part in the Junior brass day at Newbridge school. We said goodbye to much-loved RE co-ordinator Miss Dowle, who was married and moved to London with her new husband. Somehow we found a free date for school sports day! Year 4 enjoyed a trip to Techniquest in Cardiff. Year 2 took part in a music workshop at Weston All Saints school.
In July OFSTED visited but the pace did not let up. Year 6 had a Georgian day, visiting the Building of Bath Museum and No 1 Royal Crescent. Year 5 had trips to Prior Park science fair, Oldfield School tag rugby festival and Bath Arts Festival Fiesta Walk; Year 2, 3 and 4 took part in a Mozambique dance day at St John's school. Year 3 visited the Roman remains at Caerleon, and Year 2 spent a day at Weston-Super-Mare as well as visiting the Victoria Art Gallery. Year 1 held their annual grandparents day and had a picnic at Widcombe. They also had a picnic at Sydney Gardens with pupils of Widcombe Infants School, with whom they had been exchanging letters during the year. Reception class enjoyed their pirate activity day and also enjoyed a day's fruit picking at Fosseway Fruit Farm. Year 6 & 5 rounded off the year with a fantastic production of 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
